‘Winter’s Waning’

Snowdrop Spoon Carving

In England, Snowdrops are the first sign that Winter is passing on and making way for Spring. Pushing through frozen soil, frost and snow, they seem too delicate to possibly survive the harsh world into which they are welcomed.
With ‘Winter’s Waning’ I wanted to reflect this; in a way the contrast between the strength of the wood and the fragility of the subject echo the dissonance between the plant and the harshness of its environment.
